This Week In Our Kitchen: Week of September 18th

I had some great inspiration for this upcoming week, which in reality is amazing. I don’t really like cooking while pregnant, not because I don’t like food, but because nothing ever sounds good. My eating habits are purely craving driven, and so is my cooking. However, this week I must have been hungry while making my menu; let’s just hope I actually want to cook it when the time arises.

My husband’s favorite dinner last week was Grilled Greek Chicken served in flat bread with Tzatziki sauce, Roma tomatoes and feta cheese with a side of sweet potato fries. He enjoyed it so much, he requested it for this next week, we will see if it is his favorite next week as well.

If you would like some great budget friendly recipes, check out my article at Destiny In Bloom, which is an on-line women’s magazine. I hope you take a moment to go out and read my article, as well as the other wonderful articles published there.

Here is what we will be eating at our house this week.

Sunday: Cajun Chicken Pasta, sautéed spinach and garlic toast

Monday: Pepsi BBQ Chicken, Dill Potato Salad and a garden salad

Tuesday: Chicken Fried Steak, creamy mashed potatoes, and some kind of veggie.

Wednesday: Bowtie Lasagna, Cheesy Crescent Rolls, and garden salad

Thursday: Grilled Greek Chicken, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, and Tomato-Onion-Feta Salad

Friday: Leftovers

Saturday: Beef and Cheese Enchiladas

As recipes are posted on Kitchen and Kids, I will link them up to my menu plans, so if something interests you check back and see if I’ve posted a recipe.

Feel free to leave your ideas, too. Happy Cooking!

Mompact: Review and Giveaway of the Strap Tamer

I am so excited to be joining an amazing group of women this week on a fantastic, fun-filled journey. Over 120 bloggers and mom run companies have come together to bring our readers wonderful product reviews and giveaways. I hope you take the time to visit the other bloggers and enter their giveaways. You can find the full list of participants at Mompact.com, also at the bottom of this post you will  be directed to the next blog along this bloggy road.

Also, I am excited about a new product I got to try this week – Strap Tamers: Bra Strap Concealers.

I must be old-fashioned but I really don’t like to see bra straps hanging out of shirts, I equate this to boxer shorts hanging out of pants, and neither were meant to be seen. However, I love to wear tank tops and my bra straps hate to stay hidden, so I am constantly tucking them back in where they should go, so much so it is a habit. You can imagine my delight when I was given the opportunity to review a product called the Strap Tamers. I didn’t need to think twice if they tamed straps, I was all for it.

The Strap Tamers were invented by mompreneur, Noël Goldman, who one day witnessed her daughter leaving for school with bra straps showing and decided to do something about it. Noël wondered, “When did it become acceptable to fail to keep your undergarments ‘under’?” Thus the birth of the Strap Tamers.

Since I have received the Strap Tamers I have enjoyed hidden bra straps. The Strap Tamers are so easy to use and they stay in place nicely. I have used other options, but these seem to work the best so far. I also like the fact that I do not have to remove them from my clothes after each use, and if they get tossed in the washing machine there is no harm done; they’ll be right where I left them.

Aside from hiding bra straps they are also great with strapless styles. You clip the Strap Tamers to the inside of your top and then clip it over the top of your bra; it works beautifully. I did not have to keep tugging at my bra to make sure it was in place.

These little gadgets are a wonderful invention and very cost-effective. You can purchase Strap Tamers at your local Target in the lingerie section for as low as $6.99, as well as other finer department stores and boutiques. But …this week I will be giving away a package of Strap Tamers to one lucky reader! There are many ways to enter so don’t forget to take the time to do so below.

After you have entered the giveaway for the Strap Tamers  please go visit the next blog along this journey.  Then to continue the giveaway fun go to Mompact.com and click on some more blogs and giveaways. There are at least 120 different giveaways you can enter. Doesn’t that sound like fun?

Now for the fun at Kitchen and Kids. Enter now to win your own set of Strap Tamers.

Wordless Wednesday – Look Who’s 12 …

My baby just keeps getting older, but … I am excited about each new stage in his life.

Gift time – gift cards and a pellet gun! Guess what he is going to use the gift cards for? Another pellet gun! Seriously … this boy has had a multitude of pellet guns. (To those concerned parents – they are soft air pellets,  and him and his friends HAVE to wear safety goggles.) He also got a new bike to replace the one stolen in the spring.

They wanted to make their own pizzas. They had so much fun and their pizzas tasted great!

After you have had a chance to see my Wordless Wednesday I would love for you to stop by my giveaway. Over 12o bloggers have come together to offer over 150 prizes with a grand prize worth over $100.

This Week in our Kitchen: Week of September 11th

Today is a day of remembrance! I want to thank all of those who were part of helping America recover from 9/11, as well as offer up condolences to those lost.

Last week I did not get anything posted. I was in the process of making some changes to Kitchen and Kids. The significant changes you can’t see, but I did make some minor changes as well. If you had signed up to receive email updates previously, could you do so again? All of my subscriptions drifted off to cyberspace. You can also sign up via Google Friends Connect, now. I am trying to make things easier around here.

The most favored dinner around the house last week was baked ham, creamy mashed potatoes, creamed corn and fluffy yeast rolls. My husband was ecstatic to come home Sunday from church and have that waiting. I know many people make a large lunch on Sundays, but I have not made a tradition of that, so when I do make one my husband is so happy.

Starting Monday at midnight EST, Kitchen and Kids will be participating in an amazing blog hop hosted by Mompact.com. Over 12o bloggers will be reviewing mom invented products and hosting a giveaway for the product as well. I hope you will stop back by tomorrow to check out the product I am reviewing and giving away.

I also wanted to let you know my latest Real Life Matters article posted this last month at Destiny In Bloom, which is an on-line women’s magazine. I hope you take a moment to go out and read my article, as well as the other wonderful articles published there.

Here is what we will be eating at our house this week.

Sunday: Cilantro Pesto Chicken, Cilantro Lime Rice, and Grilled Corn with Chipotle Butter

Monday:  Greek Chicken Salad Sandwiches with Tzaziki Sauce and oven fries. (This is a new recipe. Once I have tried it and tweaked it, I will post it.)

Tuesday: Honey Mustard Chicken, Homemade Mac and Cheese, and green beans

Wednesday: Sour cream chicken enchiladas, and corn and black bean salad

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: Roasted Pork Tenderloin, new potatoes, and sautéed yellow squash and zucchini.

Saturday: Chicken Fried Steak, creamy mashed potatoes, and some kind of veggie.

As recipes are posted on Kitchen and Kids, I will link them up to my menu plans, so if something interests you check back and see if I’ve posted a recipe.

Feel free to leave your ideas, too. Happy Cooking!

This Week In Our Kitchen – Week of August 28th

This week is a bit unusual, and I am a bit behind. Friday was my son’s birthday, Saturday was his party, Sunday was my birthday, and Wednesday will be my 15th wedding anniversary. So needless to say we have been quite busy, but I am finally getting to my menu plan for this upcoming week.

The most favored dinner around the house last week was my husband’s goulash, which is quite tasty and it makes enough leftovers for days. So because of goulash I moved a few of my dinner ideas to this week to stretch the budget and give me a cooking break.

I also wanted to let you guys know my latest Real Life Matters article posted this last week at Destiny In Bloom, which is an on-line women’s magazine. I hope you guys take a moment to go out and read my article, as well as the other wonderful articles published there.

Here is what we will be eating at our house this week.

Sunday: Birthday dinner at my parent’s house.

Monday:  Baked potatoes with shredded pork bbq.

Tuesday: Bean soup with ham and cornbread.

Wednesday: Out to eat with my in-laws for my son and I’s birthday.

Thursday: Cilantro Pesto Chicken, Cilantro Lime Rice and Grilled Corn with Chipotle Butters

Friday: Greek Chicken Salad Sandwiches with Tzaziki Sauce and oven fries. (This is a new recipe. Once I have tried it and tweaked it, I will post it.)

Saturday: Sour cream chicken enchiladas, and corn and black bean salad.

As recipes are posted on Kitchen and Kids, I will link them up to my menu plans, so if something interests you check back and see if I’ve posted a recipe.

Feel free to leave your ideas, too. Happy Cooking!

This Week In Our Kitchen – Week of August 21st

I have read posts about so many people’s summers ending and all I can say is … thank goodness for home schooling. We are doing a few subjects, but we haven’t embraced complete schooling yet, so it still seems like summer break. I have also taken a break from cooking for clients for the month of August, which is the longest time I’ve had off since I began in June of 2008, except maternity leave; so I have really been having a great August.

My husband had quite a few dishes he enjoyed this week, but I think his favorite was the Pepsi BBQ Chicken, Potato Cakes and garden salad with blue cheese dressing. I predict this next week he won’t even be able to choose because there are quite a few favorites on the menu.

I also wanted to let you guys know my latest Real Life Matters article will be posted Monday on the on-line women’s magazine, Destiny In Bloom. I hope you guys take a moment to go out and read my article, as well as the other wonderful articles published there.

Here is what we will be eating at our house this week.

Sunday: Not-So-Fancy Spaghetti and Meat Sauce, garden salad, and bread (This is spaghetti the way my husband and I had growing up – spaghetti, Prego spaghetti sauce, and ground beef.)

Monday:  Angel Hair Pasta with Chicken Sausage, Artichokes, and Sun-Dried Tomatoes, garlic bread and garden salad

Tuesday: Cilantro Pesto Chicken, Cilantro Lime Rice and Grilled Corn with Chipotle Butters

Wednesday: Greek Chicken Salad Sandwiches with Tzaziki Sauce and oven fries. (This is a new recipe. Once I have tried it and tweaked it, I will post it.)

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: Hubby’s Ghoulash and buttered bread. (Requested by my son for his birthday, since I nixed the request for Wing Stop.)

Saturday: Homemade individual pizzas (Once again a request of my son. He wants these in order to feed the 5 – 7 boys that will be spending the night at my house. I will be getting the pizza dough balls from our local pizza parlor. He wants these to be grilled, which we have never done.)

As recipes are posted on Kitchen and Kids, I will link them up to my menu plans, so if something interests you check back and see if I’ve posted a recipe.

Feel free to leave your ideas, too. Happy Cooking!
